The Stop the Cuts Campaign has called a protest outside Stormont on the first day the Assembly meets after the summer period. Campaigners against the closure of Belfast City Hospital A&E are encouraging all those affected by cuts to join them outside Parliament Buildings to tell the Assembly Executive – STOP THE CUTS!

DON’T CLOSE BELFAST CITY HOSPITAL A&E!

The accident & emergency unit at Belfast City Hospital is under threat of closure. The Assembly Executive hope to close it by October. 42,000 patients are treated at the City. Lagan Valley A&E is now closed at nights. Cuts continue to be made at the other hospitals in Belfast who will be completely incapable of dealing with the extra pressure which would result if the City A&E closes. This closure will cost lives and must be stopped by the entire community across the Belfast area.
Please show your opposition to the closure of City Hospital A&E by joining the protest and asking friends and family to come along. The more we have on protests the more pressure we can build against the politicians in Stormont attempting to close this vital service.

Published June 27, 2011 | This Thursday across Britain hundreds of thousands of workers will be taking strike action against the Tory and Lib Dems vicious cuts to public services, including public sector workers pensions. Civil service workers belonging to the PCS union will be on strike in Northern Ireland.
The Stop the Cuts Campaign completely supports this strike action as the first step in a campaign of action to defeat the cuts. All supporters are encouraged to visit all PCS picket lines, in particular the main picket in Belfast at Millennium House, Great Victoria Street, at 12.00 noon.
